The Cryo blog

Cold, briefly, on purpose

Whole body cryotherapy is a short stay in air that is far below freezing — at CryoClinic, usually two to three minutes, with a therapist beside the chamber. Clients use it for sore muscles and for the feeling of having pressed a reset. It is not an immune “boost” you can bank, and it is not a treatment for an illness.

What the cold is doing

The shock is the point. Blood moves toward the core while you are in, then returns to the muscles when you step out. People describe less heaviness in the legs the same day. Some describe better sleep that night. Those are reports from the room, not a guarantee. If nothing changes for you after a fair trial, we would rather you spend the money on something else we offer.

What we will not do

We will not put you in if the health check says no. Pregnancy, serious cardiovascular problems, and some cold sensitivities are reasons to skip it. If you are under a doctor for an inflammatory condition, ask them before you book a course. A chamber is an adjunct at most.

The clinic has used a 2005 paper on elite rugby players (Hennessy and colleagues) as background for why athletes try cryotherapy. It is one study of trained players, not a promise about your next match.
